ENGINE OF CHANGE

As a Charity we are fully convinced that you cannot build a nation if you don’t build the people; for the obvious reason that the people build the nation. And for the people to build the nation they need to have a sense of nationhood, a sense of belonging and a stake in the nation.

Furthermore, nationhood here does not imply an absolute geographical enclosure of a commune. By that is meant that people living in Nigeria do not all have to be Nigerians to inculcate the sense of nationhood in them. An apt quotation says “Pray for the good of Jerusalem they shall prosper that love thee”. That statement does not need any further explaining, we hope. What all this comes down to is that we all need to work together for the good of everybody in the nation. We want to make qualitative contributions to the building of Nigeria. We see it as a duty.

Foremost we want to work with INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) to establish credible democratic processes. This is more than conducting the elections, we are talking of a wholesale democratic and political machinery that CANNOT be manipulated even by the most devious manipulator. Even if there is not such a system in the world yet, can’t Nigeria event one? Yes. All it takes is the desire to live for justice and fair play. No more, No less! Doing that is of paramount importance and urgency for us. We assert that you CANNOT wipe out fraud and corruption from the society if the democratic system is open to abuse and manipulation. Like begets like. And that goes without saying that the first step in establishing good governance is the establishment of a political and democratic system that does not respect the person of anybody or any party, whatsoever. As independent contributors to the building of Nigeria this is a project that is top of our priority.

Also we want to work with and for the government. As an independent Organisation we will make our ideas available to the government. We would want the government to let us into areas where they are having problems that may appear intractable. For example, what are the factors responsible for the perennial power inadequacies in the nation? What about fuel scarcity (shortage) in the land of plenty? Is there anything FOACON (the London based Charity) can do to alleviate these problems. Don’t take this lightly, we have ideas. What about Town Planning? Look at the conditions of the urban (town) roads. What about safety and security of the citizens. What well-thought-out systemisations that are in place to tackle the problems?

Finally on working with the government the London Charity (FOACON) will work closely with the Nigeria High Commission as it will do with the other African Commissions/Embassies to project good and healthy image of Nigeria abroad. What this means is that there will be a strong liaison between FOACON and TRUST NATION BUILDERS on the continent of Africa.

A cursory analysis of the political situations in the country gives one a serious worry and concern. Let’s start with the last elections and walk our way backwards. The elections were undoubtedly flawed as declared by every independent observer. But the elections were only just the culmination of the events that have gone on in the country precedingly. Have the poor masses (electorates) not been subjected to the ugly dramas that have characterised the political horse-trading for years? The flawed elections were the crescendo of the mal-practices, for the atmosphere had become non-conducive for free, fair and credible democratic processes.

Apart from the work of INEC, the public need good enlightenment so that they are properly informed to take right decisions; they need to be empowered to get rich. This is a huge task and we want to start this idea as a pilot project as soon as we launch TRUST NATION BUILDERS Nigeria. We will conceive and put in place good and hard to burst systemisation.

The title of this section of this paper is “Engine of Change”. It is a known and accepted fact that changes are unpopular, for they do tend to hurt. And for that reason you can expect resistance and opposition to change. But we are well brazed for that.

In concluding we will like you to know that we are existing purely for the suffering masses (the down-trodden commoners). Please join us to change their lives who are in diseases and poverty.
